My mission
Hello i’m Jonah Bryant this website is my Mitzvah project.
My project is about saving sharks. Sharks are becoming extinct at a frightening rate, and you the reader should care about this.
Most people think of sharks as terrifyingly deadly creatures that inflicts thousands of deaths per year. Sharks are certainly very effective predators, but they account for an tiny number of human deaths per year.
In 2017 a total of 5 people died from shark attacks. Which is less than the number of people killed by horses, cows or toasters.
Yet 200 million sharks are killed each year, and some sharks species saw their population decrease by 80%.
Sharks rarely go in shallow water and attack people. Scientists also have shown that sharks don’t like the taste of humans.
Unfortunately, the opposite isn’t true and a food called shark fin soup is the reason why so many sharks today are being killed by people.
It is estimated that 100 million are killed each year just to make shark’s fin soup. When each shark is captured only the fin is cut off, and the fishermen just leave the dying animal in the sea. The worst thing of all is that people cannot even taste the sharks fin in the soup - according the famous chef Gordon Ramsey. They simply want sharks fin in the soup because it is rare and expensive.
Let’s not allow these beautiful, ancient animals to go extinct just because people want to impress each other with an appetizer. Help me help them, and donate now.

Why you should donate
Sharks are some of the oldest creatures on the planet. They are actually older than trees, and have barely changed in the last 400 million years. It would be barbaric to hunt these creatures to extinction just because we can, or because we are scared of them.
We humans should be better than this. Let’s live and let live!
